Born in 1903 in San Anselmo, Calif.; attended University of California, Berkeley (Class of 1924, Pi Beta Phi) and Dominican University, San Rafael; studied portrait photography with Johan Hagemeyer 1928-1930 and operated a studio at 1048 Green Street in San Francisco; married arborist Leslie Mayne in 1930 and continued her practice of photography for a short time afterward; three children: Christine Mayne Crawford, Stephen Sturdivant Mayne and Mary Mayne Pope; died in 1993.
